Why does this happen? The Lawyer Salary Survey has discovered this significant difference in pay rises for male and female lawyers. That there are more men that women at higher levels of the profession is obvious but that doesn't, surely, explain the glaring pay gap when you get to salary partner level? I know that some say women don't negotiate as much as men. Is it, perhaps, also linked to women taking up specialisations where client fees are lower? I'd love to know your views.
